Thieves stole 120 ancient, handwritten copies of the Quran from Jbal Noor-ul-Quran, a repository in Quetta, Pakistan. The theft occurred between January 21 and 22, when the area was dark due to a power outage.

The stolen copies included some that were over 500 years old.The repository, located in the Brori hills, is a network of tunnels where ancient Quranic manuscripts are stored. The tunnels were dug starting in 1992 to preserve the manuscripts.

Over time, the repository gained international recognition, attracting visitors from across Pakistan and abroad.The police have registered a case and launched an investigation into the theft.

This is not the first time the repository has been targeted; a few weeks ago, thieves stole a rare Quranic manuscript after injuring a guard. The authorities are working to recover the stolen manuscripts and ensure the security of the repository.
