South Africa’s Zulu King Misuzulu ka Zwelithini’s first wife, Queen Ntokozo Mayisela Zulu, has lost a court bid to stop him from taking a third wife. The king’s third wedding is expected to take place next week, despite Queen Mayisela’s efforts to block it through the courts.According to the Sunday World newspaper, Queen Mayisela had argued that the king cannot marry another woman because their marriage is still intact.
However, Judge Isaac Madondo ruled that the queen had previously agreed to the king’s polygamous lifestyle, allowing him to marry other women.The king’s third bride, Princess Nompumelelo Mchiza, also known as Nkosi Nomzamo Mchiza, has stated that the wedding will proceed as planned. King Misuzulu ka Zwelithini has been embroiled in controversy since his coronation in October 2022, including disputes over his legitimacy and allegations of corruption.
