No More Politics in Educational Institutions: Govt Orders.

The Pakistani government has recently imposed a comprehensive ban on political and religious discussions within educational institutions, including colleges, universities, and government offices. This directive has been implemented immediately, with strict enforcement measures in place.

In Attock, the District Education Authority (DEA), with approval from the Rawalpindi commissioner, suspended two female teachers for engaging in political discussions. Deputy District Education Officer Musarrat Sultana has been assigned to conduct an inquiry and submit a report on the matter.

Official directives have been dispatched to government schools, department heads, and the health department, warning of strict action against anyone found violating the order. The Rawalpindi district commissioner has emphasized the importance of compliance and prompt enforcement.

This move has sparked backlash from the All Pakistan Clerks Association and various teacher organizations, who have rejected the ban. Despite the opposition, the District Education Administration in Rawalpindi has issued stringent instructions to school heads across the district to ensure adherence to the directive.

Historically, Pakistan has implemented bans on political debates, ostensibly to quell opposition to the status quo. The current enforcement reflects ongoing tensions between administrative authority and fundamental rights, raising questions about the balance between maintaining institutional order and upholding freedom of expression within educational settings.
