Recently, Isr*el’s military operations in southern Syria have resulted in the occupation of several villages near the Golan Heights buffer zone.
This development comes in the wake of significant regional instability following the collapse of Syria’s Ba’ath regime and the fleeing of President Bashar al-Assad.
The Isr*eli government has justified these actions as defensive, aiming to prevent potential threats along its borders. The affected areas reportedly include villages like Ofaniya, Quneitra, and al-Hamidiyah.
The Golan Heights, a region of strategic importance captured by Isr*el in 1967 and later annexed in 1981, has been a focal point of conflict between Isr*el and Syria.
International efforts to maintain a ceasefire in the buffer zone, monitored by the UN Disengagement Observer Force (UNDOF), have struggled amidst ongoing tensions.
