Following the spread of the coronavirus, there are now concerns about the potential impact of a new virus, the Human Metapneumovirus (HMPV), which has recently been gaining attention. Though reports on the rapid spread of this virus in China have surfaced, experts assert that HMPV is not as dangerous as COVID-19. According to health professionals, HMPV is a seasonal virus that primarily affects children, especially those under five years old, and can cause symptoms similar to the flu, such as coughing, fever, and difficulty breathing.
However, most cases are mild, and with proper precautions, the risk of infection can be minimized. While there is currently no vaccine for HMPV, experts suggest wearing masks, avoiding crowded places, and seeking medical advice when experiencing symptoms like a cold or cough. The virus is not as contagious or severe as COVID-19, and its spread is less alarming, though vigilance is still advised.
