Pakistan’s local mobile phone manufacturing industry has witnessed a significant decline, with production dropping 8% in November 2024 compared to the same period last year, according to the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority.
The country produced 2.31 million mobile phones locally in November, down from a seven-month high of 3.53 million units in October.
The decline is largely attributed to shortages of raw materials and increased energy tariffs, posing substantial challenges to the local industry and raising concerns about its long-term sustainability and employment opportunities.
