Asian stock markets are predominantly experiencing declines, with many global markets closed in observance of Christmas.
In Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 index decreased by 0.1% to 38,997.02, while the Shanghai Composite Index fell by 0.2% to 3,387.41.
Oil prices have risen, with U.S. crude increasing by 93 cents to $70.17 per barrel and Brent crude up by 6 cents to $73.23 per barrel.
The dollar has strengthened against the yen, rising to 157.37 yen from 157.11 yen, and the euro has increased to $1.0431 from $1.0397.
