The Punjab government, led by Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, has launched the CM Punjab Laptop Scheme 2025, aiming to distribute 110,000 state-of-the-art laptops to deserving students across the province. This initiative is part of the government’s efforts to promote digital literacy and support academic excellence among students in Punjab. The scheme is designed to provide students with access to the latest technology, helping them excel in their studies and research. To qualify for the scheme, students must meet certain requirements. A minimum of 65% marks in their most recent examinations is required for eligibility. The scheme is open to students enrolled in public sector universities, colleges, medical, technical, and agricultural institutions.
Additionally, the government has allocated 2,000 laptops for minority students, while 32% of the total laptops are reserved for students from South Punjab, ensuring equitable distribution among different regions. Unlike previous years, students do not need to apply individually online. Instead, educational institutions will collect student records and submit them to the Higher Education Commission (HEC) Punjab for verification. This new process aims to streamline applications and ensure fair distribution. Students are advised to stay in contact with their respective institutions to ensure their information is accurately submitted and verified.
The Punjab government has set a structured timeline for the laptop distribution process. Data collection will take place in February 2025, followed by the verification and final selection process in March 2025. The distribution of laptops is expected to begin after Ramadan, from April to May 2025. The first batch of Core i7 laptops has already arrived, and distribution ceremonies will be held in major cities across Punjab. This initiative is expected to bridge the digital divide by providing underprivileged students with access to modern technology. It will promote digital learning by encouraging the use of IT tools in education and will reward high-achieving students for their academic excellence.
Additionally, the scheme will enhance research capabilities by equipping students with advanced computing resources and will support remote learning, especially for students engaged in online education and research projects. The CM Punjab Laptop Scheme 2025 is a major step toward empowering students through technology and education. By providing high-performing students with modern laptops, the Punjab government aims to create a digitally advanced and academically strong generation.
